Roads
Today I think of the roads -
all of the goddamn roads I’ve traveled.
There’ve been so many roads,
each one leading me to the very place I occupy this morning.
For me the roads are like veins,
they spider all over the place,
yet always lead back to my beating heart.
Along the highways and byways
I’ve seen things I could never have imagined -
funny signs, quirky buildings, a weather blimp,
bullet cases, broken people, and endless vistas.
The list goes on and on,
as does the road.
Of course not every road is paved.
And there are many ways to follow a road.
Some don’t require you to move at all,
only silence.
One more thing...
I tell you this from humble experience:
the road that takes you away
from the being you truly are
is best avoided.
