Where to Begin
Some days I don’t know where to begin. I’ve no hungry child to feed. Still this day’s tasks call to me with the same urgency of a bored third-grader. Our lives have become based upon the advice of gurus telling us how to prioritize our tasks while raising perfect children. Yet such flimsy wisdom lasts no more than a decade, at the end of which those seemingly benign tasks have suddenly grown teeth, and the darling children have become hopelessly spoiled. The lesson of holding on to uncertainty seems clear enough in the morning. No matter what my responsibilities, life will organize my reality for me.
