What Looks Like Water Burns
What looks like water burns, writes the sage poet.* After some deliberate contemplation, my head nods in agreement. I recall the many men and women I’ve met, their faces painted with forgetting, as they follow hearts made dull by their love redirected towards the collecting of things, and towards meaningless conquest in a black and white world. It’s the children, also the songbirds, and the bear, the tree, the rose and the thorn, who are all reflecting the light of our burning Sun as it draws forth the life and love of this planet, while setting the water on fire. *Words borrowed from Rumi
