What is Eternity?

What is eternity
if one day the mountain will crumble
and collapse into the sea?
And if the stars
eventually burn out,
what then?

There is only uncertainty
in a universe without
perceptible beginning and end.
And so here I sit
inhaling one more breath
in my finite human existence.

Before the creator blinks
I will vanish.
Who will remember me
and this sleeping dog by my side?
It all seems of paramount importance
until I go to that place
where the sidewalk ends.

My first step into the unknown
begins the choreography
in a mystical and divine dance.
So I sing the words of my broken soul
and waltz away in wonder.
