A Simple Sorry
I’m sorry I showed you
the limitations within my ability
to be loving,
and to be even more loving
in the face of adversity
and in the presence of fatigue.
It never fails.
The ones I love the most,
and even the ones
I am still learning to love,
bear witness to my struggle
and to the greater endeavor
of the world we inhabit,
to manifest the love
of our creator.
There is a special peace and comfort
in bearing witness to truths bitter
and promises broken;
in them a space is opened
for love to return.
