Fruity
For some unknown reason
fruit tastes sweeter in the morning.
Maybe this is because
I’m not fully awake
and can more easily remember
traveling across the thin veil
of unitive consciousness
which creates the sweet
to counteract my bitter desire
to distinguish myself
from the rocks and the water,
from the bees and the flowers,
from the lions and the lambs,
from the grapes and the bananas.
I might as well just say it:
Let me be a little more fruity!
And thank you raisins and berries
for making my oatmeal more palatable.
