My Attention
My life is less
about any one thing
than it once was.
This realization comes, like so many,
in a moment of respite
alone and moving deliberately.
My mind always active and powerful.
What is noise, what is ego?
Is my awareness a curse?
I recognize big things as they are happening.
I notice seismic shifts
though it takes me time to articulate them.
How authentic is my awareness?
I once doubted it
not understanding how it connected me to my life.
I tried to turn it off and couldn’t.
I sought distraction to subvert it.
I made it stronger.
Alone, feeling a little cold and uncomfortable,
I relax into my humility with a deep breath,
at ease with my transformation.
