Laughing Spirits
Why be bitter at the morning?
The punches you throw in the air
cannot strike the spirits
gathered around and laughing
at your pouting face.
The herald spirits blow their trumpets,
then cry, “Wake up! Wake up!”
The valet spirits comb your hair,
pat your shoulders and utter reassurances.
The teacher spirits tell you stories
and reveal your own journey through time.
The worldly spirits push you out the door
with clear instructions to touch everything
with the grace and love touching you.
