Just Like Honey
The you and I
these pronouns identify
may never see the beauty
which will one day blossom
from the seeds we unwittingly sow.
There is as much creativity
in our blind malice
as in the genuine love we share.
God makes no distinction
and will take our offerings,
whether smooth or prickly,
patiently adding them
to all the sticky substances
within this universe.
You and I are just bees
delivering our pollen
from flower to flower,
only stinging in that moment
when we’re finally ready
to meet our maker.
