Heart & Soul

The evil in this world
may have a purpose,
beyond the graveyard,
and the twisted stump,
and all the places
it is known to lurk.

Maybe evil is the verb live spelled backwards,
and therefore the subliminal evolution
of one culture and one language
seeking answers in a mythopoetic world
not ready to trust big data.

I still feel lost
when having a conversation
about good and evil.
It makes me wonder,
whether the light needs the dark,
or if evolution can skip a step,
if magic and mystery are the same things,
if I require something to push against
pushing back against me,
so that I will get out of bed each day.
