Haunted by the Ghost
It’s the first day of September.
I’d like to write some cheerful words,
a fond farewell as summer wanes,
a hurrah for the triumphant greenery of Ohio,
along with a prayer for a colorful
and a mosquito-less Fall.
Yes, I want you to know I am well.
Everything is in as right a place as it can be.
And truly,
for whatever else is happening in the world,
it is a fact that all fits this time and place.
Some days are impossibly busy.
Others try my patience to no end.
I wonder often:
What am I doing?
Who am I doing it for?
I am haunted by the Ghost.
This one day towards the end of summer is just beginning.
So why is it I think I should know what comes next?
Everything that really matters holds mystery.
Maybe I’ll sit quietly a moment longer.
