El Divorciado
Am I breathing?
A shallow breath
stumbling in darkness.
Flash! A blinding light.
Days drip by,
indistinguishable.
My heart burns.
Why am I cold?
Alone in this desert,
dry, only dust,
not even a mirage;
am I a ghost?
A soul gone missing,
shells on a beach,
merry-go-round,
littered side-street.
Surrender your badge.
Bleed no more.
A bee stings,
a snowflake melts.
Soft wet lips,
steady, rhythm drum
¡Vaya con dios!
Life marches on.
