Can't You See it?
Some people don’t know what hit ‘em.
With eyes wide and hair blown back,
they stare at me completely oblivious,
and yet they are overflowing with grace.
Can’t you see it?!
I exclaim.
Take your pulse,
you’ve been struck by lightning!
But they don’t see it,
just like they didn’t see
the light of the locomotive
when they entered the tunnel.
These people are the archangels of God.
My damp awareness of everything
will not wake them,
nor will it keep them
from their obvious task
of loving everything.
