Beechwood Ave.

In 1985 the spirits in this house were different.
They held me in their bosom,
while supporting a young family
full of energy, innocence, and vitality.

Like people, the spirits come and go.
Today this house feels somewhat empty,
though the memories linger on...
If only the walls could speak.

There is a certain sadness in witnessing change.
I am unable to resist it,
becoming forever a part of it,
bearing both its weight and its light.

I pray to move as the seasons do:
slowly and assuredly.
I know change inevitably will find me,
yet I beg for mercy on my wounded soul
and for patience in doing God’s will.

More than forty years we’ve traveled together;
the old and the new spirits
always coming and going.
They lead me in an unbroken circle,
with Love as our light and our way.
