Wisdom and Wet Feet

Rumi says,
The cure for the pain is the pain.
And I can feel the truth of his words,
recalling the mystical experiences I’ve had
with my heart ripped open,
blood spilling everywhere,
as I marched relentlessly
into the unknown interiors of my life.

There’s a lot of wisdom to be had.
This world is full of things which know.
Some of them sting and bite,
others soothe and protect.

Venture inward, towards your pain.
I think you’ll someday agree:
It’s like crossing a river on foot,
there are infinite ways to the other side,
but you’re gonna have to get wet.
