Winter Solstice
(Sister Winter)
Death visits us more often in the Winter and nearer to our holidays when the light may be as scarce as our understanding of what it means to live within the darkness. My anger is blind. It lashes out indiscriminately, wanting nothing more than to make everything right, yet only succeeding in making matters worse. This yearly darkness reminds me: life, like truth, must be approached with a reverence befitting anything you can never hold, and the light of new life makes everything possible, most especially the inevitable Spring.
