Why do guys love Led Zeppelin?

“Why do guys love Led Zeppelin?” she asked.

Oh my, such an innocent and inspirational interrogative! Where to begin, my Muse? Please allow me to breathe these words in a simplicity befitting the subject matter.

Led Zeppelin is the sad song blues for men of Northern European ancestry. Genuine human sentiment combined with electrified rhythms borrowed from black mystics form the core of the Led Zeppelin sound. Men don’t just listen to a Zeppelin tune – they become it.

Unlike the admiration and understanding of a Pollock masterpiece, Led Zeppelin is not an acquired taste. To appreciate Zeppelin is to revere the beauty of a woman and to feel truly alive. Take away taste, touch, sight, sound, and smell (all rolled into feeling) and the music is silenced.

Raw emotion and animal sensuality/sexuality burns in the lyrics. The echoing guitar and pounding drums drive the listener to frenzy.

How Many More Times*

Oh, Rosie, oh, girl!
Oh, Rosie, oh, girl!
Steal away now, steal away
Steal away baby, steal away
Little Robert Anthony wants to come and play.
Why don’t you come to me baby?
Steal away, all right, all right...

Well they call me the hunter, that’s my name
They call me the hunter, that’s how I got my fame
Ain’t no need to hide,
Ain’t no need to run
‘Cause I’ve got you in the sights of my..........gun!

Led Zeppelin sings to the average man, slave of this Earth, full of barroom passion.

Over the Hills and Far Away*

Many dreams come true and some have silver linings
I live for my dream and a pocketful of gold.

Led Zeppelin is a new day.

Stairway to Heaven*

If there’s a bustle in your hedgerow, don’t be alarmed now,
It’s just a spring clean for the May queen.
Yes, there are two paths you can go by
But in the long run
There’s still time to change the road you’re on.

And then there is the poetry.

Kashmir*

Oh let the sun beat down upon my face, stars to fill my dream
I am a traveler of both time and space, to be where I have been
To sit with elders of the gentle race, this world has seldom seen
They talk of days for which they sit and wait and all will be revealed

Talk and song from tongues of lilting grace, whose sounds caress my ear
But not a word I heard could I relate, the story was quite clear
Oh, oh

Of course Led Zeppelin is wise to the wanton women.

Hey, Hey What Can I Do*

In the bars, with the men who play guitars
Singin’, drinkin’ and rememberin’ the times
My little lover does a midnight shift
She’s followed around all the time
I guess there’s just one thing a-left for me to do
Gonna pack my bags and move on my way
Cause I got a worried mind
Sharin’ what I thought was mine
Gonna leave her where the guitars play

And sometimes Led Zeppelin is bad as hell.

Black Dog*

Hey, hey, mama, said the way you move
Gonna make you sweat, gonna make you groove.
Oh, oh, child, way you shake that thing
Gonna make you burn, gonna make you sting.
Hey, hey, baby, when you walk that way
Watch your honey drip, can’t keep away.

Led Zeppelin is the essence of a man and the sentimentality that haunts him. So take some time to appreciate their songs. Much of what constitutes a man is also inside a woman and vice versa.
