Truth is Truth
It’s usually the first sip which awakens my taste buds, encouraging me to drink more as I impatiently search for the bottom of my desire. It’s also the first line which launches a poem, and routinely determines whether it will sink or float. But it’s never the drink. Because there’s no amount of wine, poured out in pretty words, that can save my heavy-dirty soul. There’s a spacious truth draped all over me this morning, like the little salt and pepper dogs snoozing on my lap. No matter where I go, it remains the truth.
