To Be Created

The trees speak...

The human world is busy
and full of obligations
that would confuse
any bear, rabbit or owl
about their real importance.

So on those rare days
when I stumble into the woods
the other animals seem startled,
yet the trees welcome me asking,
Where are you going?
Why have you come here?
What can we offer you?

I walk silently,
but the deeper I go
into the dense thicket
of my rooted being,
the sun and moon,
the wind and rain,
all take a turn
showing me their faces.

Later,
in my bed at night,
I will wake in the stillness
confronted by this truth:
I have come to be created.
