Three Rivers

At last!
At very last!
I see the joy in dying
and feel the grace of letting go.
Today I celebrate the pain
which affords me this great joy.

I stand on a hill awed
by the confluence of three rivers,
where I witness two watersheds
freely giving themselves over
to a new and mightier river.

And thus I grieve little,
for in my grief I am too aware
of my being and of my possessions.
Now I am possessed
by something much greater.
