The Poets Dream in Verse

The poets dream in verse,
then wake to a world of music.
They sing aloud
so that the smoke may be lifted
and everyone may see
there is nothing between
heaven and earth,
ecstasy and pain,
sleeping and wakefulness,
but the petty desire
to own the truth.

The mystics travel by night
arriving just after
your eyes have closed.
Those who resist
call them demons.
Those who fly away with them
know they are angels.
