A poet’s origin story...
The politicians wield weaponry while the poets weave words. Some know. Some don’t know. Yet others seem to fear the poetry in everything, and also the poetry in the fullness of what we might call nothing, lurking just beyond the limits of all literal comprehension. I recall the day in school when I peered into the trash and noticed that crumpled paper. Scrawled on it was a poem, one I could understand, and that made me want to be a poet.
