The Hermit
He didn’t want to outlive his money, so he found a remote place to live and built a home there. He managed his life remotely, becoming something of a Salinger to the locals. He saw his world crumbling, yet felt too old and powerless to do anything about it. So he said goodbye to those he’d known choosing to be where he could hear the birds above the morning traffic. The odds are good he won’t outlive his money. The odds are also good he hasn’t left behind all of his fears. The night before the day God comes for him, he will have a few regrets.
