The Desert Wakes
The desert wakes in silhouettes and shadows. Dinosaur eggs sit motionless as they have for millions of years. A single bird calls out to the morning creatures, “Arise! Arise!” While the nocturnal recede into the shadows, then below the ground. The morning desert is full of color: deep and royal blues, pale and hunter greens, brown, beige, orange, splashes of red, yellow and purple. By noon the sun will dominate, casting the fierce light of truth and washing out all of the colors, while muting the brilliance of early morning. The desert bakes and waits patiently for the Earth to turn away from her Sun. Then as the shadows lengthen, the colors will return, only this time softer and with a golden halo, sending notice to predator and prey, the night is coming.
