Testament

Be strong and have faith.

I am grateful for my faith.
It takes the edge off my fear
and gives me the courage to act,
to do what I was created for –
simply to love all of life.

I am consumed by many things,
but it is faith which frees my soul
from the bondage of a single moment
and offers me a greater perspective
of my time and place.

Faith reveals to me beautiful truths,
how the many waves of grief,
as well as my precious tears,
are just like the ocean,
and how a thankful heart
is like a bird’s song
welcoming each morning.

I once thought of faith as a shackle.
Now I know it sets the limits of my freedom
beyond the ability of comprehension to reason,
and creates the conditions under which
my fickle heart may love.
