(A Difficult Space)

How do I hold this difficult space
without running
without doing
without any motion
like a mirror
like the glass in God’s eye
reflecting back to me
the green pines
the impossibly blue skies
and the orange pine needles
scattered everywhere?

A prick of the pinecone draws blood.
I am alive.
I
AM
ALIVE!
What does this mean?
I wait uncertain
holding such a difficult space
learning to love everything
the loneliness
my anger
the shame
my grief
this power
my tiny flame.

What am I to do with all this love?
