He’s up early today - holiday-shmoliday! There’s work to be done. His customers are going to need beer and liquor, more this day than the other 365. He’d better get to the store early so he can count out his drawer, and turn everything on before it gets too busy. He likes working. He likes the hectic holiday pace. He likes his customers. He often thinks, Who wouldn’t be happy when buying alcohol and cigarettes? His sister invited him over after he’s closed. She probably wants him to bring some wine. And he’ll probably go just for a little while, even though he doesn’t want to be reminded of the life he let pass him by. He prefers to believe he chose his solitary life.
