Speak Viscerally
My body urges me to speak viscerally
with sharp tongue and deep wisdom -
the kind that comes from life experience
as well as the uninterrupted digestion,
through thousands of days and nights
in which myriad foods
sweet and savory,
some unpronounceable,
others so sugary
I almost toss the whole lot,
eventually come to pass
after winding through my bowel
while adding their voices
to bone,
to heart,
and to mind.
The sounds coming from my body
form the words I so desperately need to hear.
