Soul Reawakening
This is a poem for those days
when waking makes no sense,
like jumping into cold water,
the surface of which holds
all of life’s tensions
in a shiny reflection
of the cloudless sky.
As soon as my feet find bottom,
I start to forget the mystery
which only moments ago
saturated my sleep in dreams
of all the things I thought lost.
You and me,
she and he,
us and we,
all of it heavy ballast
tethering ego to being.
Every morning
adds a little something
to my soul reawakening.
