Collecting
I tried collecting in the very literal sense. It started with Hot Wheels then I moved on quickly to Star Wars figures, baseball cards and cassette tapes. I also had small collections of some very odd things, like wheat pennies and old foreign stamps. I now forget who gave them to me. Collecting was promoted as a fun-safe hobby, a virtuous means of acquisition, both of valuable things and of learning. I thought it harmless until that day my collections began to rely too heavily on my spare income, and became a burdensome weight tugging at my subconscious. Slowly I let go of my collections just as they had begun, one or two items at a time. Now little remains for me to hold and hoard, freeing up ample space for a renewed lightness being.
