What happens when all we see
are straight lines and all
we ever hear is no?
What does a world given over
to cars and concrete mean?
I’ve stopped asking questions now
that the only answer is more.
I know well my own arduous journey
through darkness and hell
to arrive at a simple yes.
There were rocks in my way and
terrifying nights with no moon.
But I learned invaluable things
in the dim light of dawn.
The deeper my descent
into heart and soul,
the clearer I could see.
Somewhere spinning,
obscured in the muddy waters
running fiercely through my being,
I snatched out the precious gift
that is mine to deliver.
