Sleeping and Waking
She’s not yet awake. Hmm… They’re many types of sleeping. One of them comes from fatigue, another is, “let’s avoid this day,” and still another is, “I’ve nothing better to do.” Sleep means something to everyone and to everything. Sleep comes to me early in the evening just when others are waking up. But then sleep also leaves me early before the sun climbs above the horizon. Maybe wakefulness has little to do with that strange state we call sleep. Life goes on after we take leave of this world, shut down our senses and enter the go-between. There, in that woozy liminal space, the shackles of our existence melt away, and reason becomes a joke about intellectuals. Sleep is more potent than a billion years of time. You’d better steal some sleep, before sleep steals you.
