Skip Ahead

I read a book
front to back,
word by word.
And I live my life
day to day,
minute by minute.

The temptation
for me to skip ahead
is powerful and omnipresent.
Thankfully I cannot
transcend space and time,
thus folding my life
into a single moment.

This is how the Creator
sees the Universe,
both personal and impersonal,
instantaneous and eternal.
Anyone who creates
knows time is circular.
It goes round and round,
and we go round with it.

So this may be a circuitous way
of saying I’m tired,
weary of all this turning,
and of turning too quickly,
while trying to read ahead.

At times I may be too preachy.
But don’t count on me
to show up every Sunday.
Find your own voice.
Get to know God personally.
