She Whispers to Me

She is the sea upon which I sail.
She is the way in a world without trails.
She is the moon that makes my skin rise.
She is the black cat with the hunter’s eyes.

Everywhere I look she is all that I see,
except for a few others very similar to me.
It frightens me so to blink in her presence,
for I might fall in love with her silky-smooth essence.

Perhaps it scares me even more than it should.
So I stand here alone a tree of hard wood.
Then she sweeps through the forest a warm, gentle breeze.
Still her love blows me down and scatters my leaves.

“No,” I call out as the tears come flyin’,
“the world is much easier without lovin’ and dyin’.”
She smiles and whispers to me as only she can,
nods her beautiful head, and touches my hand.

“Be not afraid, I hold within me the light.
“Join your hand with mine and end this old fight.”
She wipes away the lone tear from my eye,
creating the land, the lakes, and the sky.

Eternity groans as we unite under the sun,
for it knows the war we have already won.
No longer will the terror of loneliness strike me down,
because it ain’t so easy, destiny, to uncrown.
