Saltwater

...a frightening cure.

Tears launch me into
that ocean called feeling,
my emotions like waves
threatening to subsume me
in their salty waters.

No sooner am I castaway,
adrift in my tears
and fearful of everything
swimming down below,
than I begin to look for dry land
rising out of the depths.

Like the fisherman of yore
I set out on a turbulent sea,
then reel myself back in before
I become too heavy and sink
in a saltwater grave.
