Only Just Forgotten
Beam me up, Scotty!
I wake early this morning because I’m far from home, but not far from feeling at home as I drive through a misty forest, marveling at the fallen granite broken beneath a hydroelectric dam. This winding road leads me deeper, until somewhere within my psyche I hear my younger voice urging me closer to the water, wanting me to get my feet wet and to once again feel ice cold water on my skin. I turn the music up. Images reappear of forgotten places, of people I knew, of the very first time I sang along with these lyrics. The morning, the mist, the natural beauty, all transport me to the wonder only just forgotten.
