...keeps pounding.

Who gets my heart pounding?

She

we

These are the people
who make my heart pound.

What gets my heart pounding?

Anticipation
expectation
hunger
eating, drinking, dancing
doing anything right now
being alone
or even better
being with you
but even
sadness
frustration
fear
and helplessness

All of these things
make my heart pound.

When does my heart pound?
When I’m alive
when I’m present
when I’m alone
when I’m afraid
when I’m in community
when I’m happy
when I’m unaware
when I’m breathing
when I’m holding my breath
when I’m inside you
when you’re inside me

That’s when my heart pounds.
