No Longer a Need to Know
I’ve nowhere left to go, and so comes an exhale carried forth by a sigh, followed by an unfocused stare into that middle distance, a liminal space of holding where there is no knowing, and more importantly, no need to know. It’s not that I’ve seen it all. It’s that I couldn’t possibly hope to. All the memories have flooded my senses and swept me so far from shore I can no longer identify the harbor. Nothing is more real to me now than the wave on which I’m floating. I look back toward the land where everything is vaguely familiar. Then I turn calmly toward the sea where the current is carrying me away.
