Night Turned Day
Here in the shadows of my tiny lamp,
during those early morning hours
when outside the sound of traffic
hums at a low and constant roar -
is when I come into the now,
with my notebook,
with my pen,
with God.
This never-ending night
reaches deep into my mind,
using powers dark and mysterious
to nourish my doubts and fears.
The night and the day come inevitably
and in equal parts throughout the year.
Each one offers relief from the other.
Or at the very least a different experience.
