My Part
When I was a kid every 15 seconds was like a new day, every day like a new month. The eons seemed so heavy I couldn’t fathom an hour in church, let alone mountaintops risen from the sea. Now the days all run together, and it makes perfect sense to me that someday I will be no more and those mountains will become dust. As time passes, I am less inclined to ask what it all means, while more inclined to ask whether I have done my part in love.
