My Knowing
Visitors to my head will find the way easy, the doors all unlocked —or almost all of them. But it might be difficult for these wanderers to find somewhere to linger, or even a place to sit for a spell. I impose a strict order, and if you want residency in my head, you’d better be tender with my heart or tough enough to deliver a real gut punch. Raw knowledge is boxy, too formal professional, condescending, and a little bit smug. I prefer my knowing to be seasoned with several emotions, and instinctual, like something remembered or just momentarily forgotten.
