Eternity Next to a Rock in the Desert
I remember the first time waking up, feeling alone but not lonely, surrounded by the pregnant silence, feeling a dry breeze cool but not cold, everywhere things, but not enemies, time buried in the rocks standing guard in the shadows silhouetted by the dawning light. Everything everything everything right there in that moment and since has filled the growing ocean called my consciousness. In the time it takes for the sea to become the desert graveyard of her children, God blinks and the Universe expands.
