The poem I wish to write is for the young woman just coming to know her own power through her innate and generous gifts to give birth and to affirm life. I also write a poem within the poem, a prayer to whoever may hear it, asking to be freed from my need to be anything more than I am, and to become grateful for the gifts my mother has given me.
