Money (1)

The coin falls to the table.
Click…click…click…heads.
It reads “In God We Trust.”
So goes our legacy.
There is no legitimacy
without money.
Don’t our laws seem a little funny?
Everywhere I go,
everything I see,
becomes a dollar sign to me.
Let’s write a little song
and take it to the bank.

Many of my friends speak Money,
but I am not affluent;
although I could make that my goal.
When I was younger
everything I did had the purest motivation.
Ovation!
Now nothing I do with my day
is taken seriously without thought of pay.
I walk the tight rope of sanity.
The Gold Standard holds only calamity.
Can I have both
material wealth and infinite scope?
