Merry Metanoia***

The prophets say
we all come from the stars.
They know when the sun goes down
the moon makes all of us glow,
because they can feel the stardust
sprinkled everywhere.

Who needs their eyes to believe
what their hearts are telling them?

I would rather repent my ignorance
than keep resisting the radiant grace
of divine light and presence,
which seems to come even nearer
at this sacred time of year.
It comes through the cards and carols,
through lights and liturgies,
and through good deeds and goings home.

Merry Christmas means a lot of things.
For me it is an open invitation
to go beyond the limits of my mind
and ever-deeper into my heart and soul;
an amazingly humble place
where the divine is birthed within me.
