Lou
I’m still hangin’ here.
It takes eons for wind and water to level a mountain. Yet it takes only a lifetime to return a man or woman to soil and dust. I once worked for a man born in Colorado and hardened in Illinois. He was raised by the wind and therefore had little to say. But he did have a glass eye and the intelligence of a creature who’s spent long periods not living, but surviving. When I knew him he was all rolling hills, not the jagged rocks of his wild youth. By now he must be dust blowing across the prairie.
