Life Demands

...something called unknowing.

Once you see something,
you’ll always see it.
It’s much the same
with the other senses.

What you hear and smell,
both taste and touch,
becomes part of you,
a permanent knowing.

This must be why we resist
when life demands from us
something called unknowing

At some point we must unsee
and look again with new eyes.

We must stop tuning in
to those same old voices
and listen to someone new.

We must allow our feelings to pass
and experience true emptiness.

There’s no doubt
I could say it much better,
if only I’d let go
of the same old words.
