Intentionality
The purpose and emotion with which you do things is
intentionality.
In my understanding of this,
experience has been my best teacher.
I am a man of good intentions
as I am motivated by positive thoughts and emotions.
I know many women and men
with similar good intent.
Of course there are those with bad intentions,
spurred on by negative feelings and beguiling thoughts.
Some no doubt know it;
others are oblivious to their good and to their bad.
I want to see my own heart as true.
I feel the pure goodness of my intentions.
Yet I recognize my own mysterious shadow side,
aligned to its own moral compass and intentionality.
Every day I hope to live more fully
in the light of deed and intentionality,
to spread the joy, love and kindness I feel within,
a tiny flame that burns even in the darkest night.
