God Spill

Living a good life requires time.
Mostly it requires all the experiences time offers.
Like waves slowly eroding the rock,
that’s what time can do to the human heart.

You’ll see, God does not enter you
through these time worn holes in your heart,
but rather spills out of you from them,
becoming the light that nourishes others.

I am cracked and broken open.
Is God spilling out of me?
I pray this is so.

Once you have seen that flash of light,
arriving as it does in your darkest moment,
there is no denying the transcendent reality of God,
nor the doorway which opens up
when you offer your life for others.
