For a Moment
I fall into the night then go into the day. There is something easy about those evening hours, an easiness I allow myself for pushing through the day. Some hours merge, others divide. The weather makes a mess of everything. Is the year one long sticky day followed by several inches of night? I swear that I’m awake, but it’s hard to see the difference between my dreams and my reality. I am not a child, so I do know the difference, or at least I thought I did, until I fell in love, until I fell in loneliness, until I allowed death a space inside my heart. Nothing is stronger than my prayers, and still they cannot hold water, or more precisely, cannot hold back my tears, for all those things I’ve imagined which are only real for a moment.
